CREATING IMPACT

JAWUN PARTNERS WITH INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES TO CHAMPION INDIGENOUS-LED CHOICE IN SUPPORT OF A BETTER NATION.

  • “The strength of the Jawun partnership model is in developing lasting relationships and working together through the Jawun ecosystem.”

NOEL PEARSON, JAWUN PATRON & FOUNDER, CAPE YORK PARTNERSHIP (CAPE YORK)

  • “Ultimately, we knew that in creating this huge pool of people who had experienced life in community, we would create a pool of advocates for change in Australia.”

    ILANA ATLAS AO, JAWUN CHAIR

  • “It is one thing to identify issues; it is another thing altogether to act.”

PAUL BRIGGS OAM, EXECUTIVE CHAIR, KAIELA INSTITUTE

    (GOULBURN MURRAY)

  • “Through Jawun we’re having conversations over coffee with these dynamic groups of people who have new ideas and new ways of thinking. It’s really, really important for growth.”

DR STEPHANIE TRUST, CLINICAL DIRECTOR, WUNAN HEALTH

    (EAST KIMBERLEY)

  • “Being part of the Jawun network allows us to tell the real story of our work – how we empower ourselves and drive impact. We've taken responsibility back as a community.”

    SHANE PHILLIPS, CHAIR, TRIBAL WARRIOR

    (INNER SYDNEY)

  • “Working with Jawun secondees has brought professional development for me personally, having high-calibre, high-performing people challenge my thinking. Jawun also gave me the capacity to work on projects that I believed in, but were beyond the usual scope of my role.”

    WAYNE BERGMANN, CEO, KRED ENTERPRISES

    (WEST KIMBERLEY)

  • “It’s about having the guts, holding the line, and setting standards. Five years ago, that wasn’t my vocabulary. But participating in the Jawun Emerging Leaders program and having exposure to people from the corporate sector who use a whole new language, well, that was very serendipitous.”

BELINDA FIELD, CEO, ELEANOR DUNCAN ABORIGINAL HEALTH SERVICES

    (CENTRAL COAST)

  • “Every secondee I have worked with has achieved two-way skills transfer – building my skillsets but also sharing knowledge about Yolngu culture. It’s been a really beautiful relationship between myself and secondees.”

RARRTJIWUY HERDMAN, FOUNDER & CEO, DJALKIRI FOUNDATION

    (NORTH EAST ARNHEM LAND)

  • “Through Jawun we’ve gained access to corporates, public servants, and other Aboriginal organisations that are doing well. Without that support, we wouldn’t be in the growth phase we’re in now.”

KEVIN KROPINYERI, FOUNDER, RUWE ABORIGINAL CORPORATION

    (LOWER RIVER MURRAY)

  • “The Emerging Leaders program gave me the opportunity to immerse myself into new ideas and ways of thinking, challenging my own world view and to nurture growth as an individual, a leader, and a member of my community.”

    JESSIE SLEEP, 2019 EMERGING LEADER

    (FAR WEST COAST, SOUTH AUSTRALIA)

  • “Through Jawun, incredible people generously partner with us from government and private sectors. Their work strengthens our capacity and has a lasting impact on the Aboriginal Community Controlled health sector and our people.”

TRACEY BRAND, CEO, DERBARL YERRIGAN HEALTH SERVICE

    (SOUTH WEST AUSTRALIA)

  • "In one of the most socially disadvantaged communities in Australia, I learned more than I ever believed possible. It helped how I work as a senior leader and how I see the rights of Traditional Owners, climate, and reconciliation. It was a profound and rewarding experience."

MARK ADAMS, FORMER SECONDEE AND CHIEF RISK OFFICER, WESTPAC INSTITUTIONAL BANK AND TREASURY

Jawun has seconded 4000+ corporate and government employees to ~150 Indigenous organisations in 12 regions. This supports capability development through mutual skills transfer.

Around 300 Indigenous leaders have participated in Jawun leadership development initiatives; and over 1500 senior corporate and government executives have been immersed in Indigenous-led change agendas via Jawun’s on-country Executive Visits.

Together, the Jawun experiences build trust, capacity, and self-determined Indigenous communities. They make a practical contribution to reconciliation, and to a better nation.
